Fakapapa proudly presents the exhibition ‘The Rise of Creative Kokeshi’. From September 23 to October 1, you can view an exclusive selection of Japanese wooden sculptures, called kokeshi, in the Zilverhof (Ghent) for the first time in Belgium. These handmade sculptures have a rich cultural tradition in Japan, dating back to 1830. This exhibition highlights the work of some of the leading artists in the renewal movement that sparked the rise of creative kokeshi in Japan in the 1960s.
