Philo Ouweleen is a Japonologist who captures her fascination with Japan in research, writing and paintings. The project Stories from Kameoka originated during an artist in residency program in Kameoka, a small Japanese city a 30-minute drive away from Kyoto.
The project consists of painted and written portraits of Kamejin: people from Kameoka, and landscape paintings that illustrate the modern-day charms and challenges many small Japanese cities face.
Festive expo opening will be on Thursday 9 January 2020 at 19.30 h.
The exhibition is on show from 9 January until 20 February.
The exhibition is open on Monday to Thursday between 10.00 – 17.00.
Entrance is free.
